Free Senior Workshop: Dance and Poetry of Japan
Join us and learn the dances, poetry, and culture of Japan, and share in communal art inspired by Japanese traditions.
Come and enjoy dancing with dance fans, wearing kimono,* and creating your own Haiku poetic stanzas and dances!
*Kimono will be provided.
Join Us for the Culmination Performance of Dance and Poetry of Japan Workshop!
The workshop participants will present the Japanese classical dance, Yanagi no Wakaba (Young Leaves of Willows) and dances inspired by Haiku verses, and Renku (linking verses). A special guest, Beth Griffith will join as a vocalist to accompany the dances. Also, Hiei Oroshi, choreographed by Ito to selected poems from Shajin-Shu, the collection of poems by Chinese poetesses in the 7th century.
